Profile
Graham Robinson is a former solicitor (Qualified 1988) who has specialised in criminal law throughout hisĀ career. Initially he defended and prosecuted (he was instructed regularly as an agent for the CPS) before the magistrates court but in 1997 he became one of the first solicitors to qualify as a Crown Court Advocate.
Since then he has undertaken the complete range of criminal work. He has been led in 2 murders including a baby shaking case involving complex medical evidence. He appeared as the sole advocate in 2 separate cases of attempted murder and many cases of rape and other sexual offences. He has gained substantial experience in examining child witnesses. On one occasion the complainant was 5 years of age.
He has been involved on behalf of the defence in several cases arising from undercover police operations into drug dealing and his last case as a solicitor was a 4 week trial alleging a conspiracy to import several million pounds worth of heroin.
He has appeared on numerous occasions before the Court of Appeal and Divisional Court. Two notable cases are R v Llewellyn and others (2006) 4ALLER1012 a leading case on the dangerous provisions of the Criminal Justice Act 2003 and R v Whittle 2007 2CAR(s) 111 in which he successfully argued against the imposition of a Travel Restriction Order. He has also successfully appealed against the making of an Anti Social Behaviour Order an area in which he has developed something of an expertise.
Graham Robinson developed a reputation as an excellent solicitor advocate and was frequently instructed by other firms. His many years experience as a solicitor and ultimately senior partner of his firm give him an unrivalled understanding of the requirements of solicitors and of client care. He has forged close links with a sixth form college local to his home in Lancashire and has assisted the students in the National Bar mooting competition as well as recently accompanying a party to Washington DC.
He is a keen cricketer. Sadly a keenness not matched by ability.
