PROFILE

Kirsty has developed a strong practice in personal injury and clinical negligence. She undertakes advocacy and advisory work for claimants and defendants on the fast track and the multi track. Kirsty has experience in a broad spectrum of areas including clinical negligence, fatal accident claims, employers' liability, industrial disease, road traffic accidents, tripping and slipping litigation, defective premises and travel litigation. Kirsty attends inquests in the role of advocate including those where an Article 2 wider investigation is required.

Kirsty's clinical negligence practice has included cases involving gynaecology, ophthalmic practice, informed consent for surgery, unnecessary chemotherapy treatment, negligent prescribing, failure to monitor following epidural, failure to diagnose and delay in carrying out surgery. She is adept at dealing sensitively with clients in difficult situations and being able to explain complex issues in simple terms.

Kirsty is noted for her meticulous written work, detailed preparation and attention to detail. Kirsty endeavours to combine a professional attitude with a friendly and approachable style and is known for providing firm and clear advice.

Kirsty also has extensive experience of costs litigation and undertakes work for both claimants and defendants including advising in writing and in conference, attending detailed assessment hearings including at the SCCO and attending costs appeals. Kirsty is frequently instructed in personal injury matters which have related costs issues on the basis that she can give tactical advice from the outset in respect of all issues.
