Clinical Negligence

The Clinical Negligence group at Nine St John Street offers a specialised service at all levels of seniority to both Claimants and Defendants in claims arising out of negligent medical, dental and cosmetic treatment at both County Court and High Court Level. Members have considerable breadth of experience including claims arising out of consent issues, failures in diagnosis, delays in diagnosis, negligent surgery, ophthalmic care, obstetrics, anaesthetics and complex multi-disciplinary cases. Members regularly provide training and seminars to both Solicitors and Medical professionals.

Members of the team regularly act in inquests where clinical care is in issue including Article 2 inquests, suicides and cases involving children, and benefit from one member being an Assistant Deputy Coroner.

Nine St John Street regularly act for the GMC and advise in relation to GMC and other regulatory proceedings, such as in the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Nine St John Street have considerable expertise in Travel Law, including cross-border claims for medical negligence and involving jurisdictional issues relating to medical treatment abroad. The team has a particular interest in this developing area of litigation and are happy to provide training and seminars upon request.

The team is also currently expanding its practice into Court of Protection and Mental Health Law and is very keen to further develop its expertise in this area.
