Dogs... still mans' best friend?

Since March 2020 an increasing number of dog attacks have been reported in the media. Some of these attacks have resulted in tragic fatal consequences. As recently as August 2023 a police horse was attacked by a dog causing the rider to be thrown to the floor before the horse bolted.

Precisely why there has been such an increase remains subject to some debate. It was well documented that dog ownership increased during the pandemic. Since that time new ‘fashionable’ breeds have entered the marketplace.

Whatever the reason the increase in the number of attacks will lead to an inevitable increase in the number of personal injury claims being brought and thereby defended.

On 21 September 2023 Victoria Rigby, Elizabeth Murray and Phil Barnes of 9 St John Street Chambers, Manchester, will be hosting a seminar addressing the issues surrounding these claims.
