Paul Gilroy KC continues run of high profile football cases

It has been announced that former Ipswich Town Manager Jim Magilton has reached settlement with the Club in relation to his claim of wrongful dismissal following his sacking in April 2009. Paul Gilroy KC successfully represented the Manager. Paul Gilroy's involvement in the Magilton case comes on the back of a series of high profile football cases he has conducted. Since the beginning of the year, he has acted for Roy Hodgson, Roberto Di Matteo and Aidy Boothroyd in respect of their dismissals by Liverpool, West Bromwich Albion and Coventry City respectively, and is representing Martin O'Neill in his forthcoming claim before the FA Premier League Arbitration Tribunal against Aston Villa.

I recently acted for the Respondent in the case of Rayner v MOD in the Bristol Employment Tribunal (03 October 2024). The case was unusual for two reasons. Firstly, the Claimant lacked capacity and a Litigation Friend was appointed in accordance with the guidance in Jhuti v Royal Mail Group Limited (Practice & Procedure) (2017) UKEAT 0062/17.
