Celebrating 100 Years of Women in the Law

9 St John Street Chambers are delighted to mark the First 100 Years of Women in the Law with a celebratory evening in Chambers on Wednesday 26th June 2019.

Keynote speakers presenting to Honourable Members of the Judiciary and our Solicitor colleagues will include Dame Janet Smith, Dame Caroline Swift and Ms Jo Darbyshire, all of whom are pioneers in their fields.

Chambers will also host pupils from local secondary schools and students enrolled in higher education to provide an opportunity to network with inspirational women, and to encourage future growth of women working in the law.

The judgment of the Supreme Court in TUI v Griffiths regarding 'uncontroverted' expert evidence: nuclear bomb or damp squib?

William Hamilton and Beth Caunce review this Supreme Court decision which concerns the correct approach to "uncontroverted" expert evidence, here in the context of a travel sickness claim, but with broader ramifications regarding the procedural fairness of refraining from cross-examining an expert or relying on one’s own expert and waiting instead to criticise that expert’s opinion in closing submissions.
