Geoff Whelan and Hayley Bennett successfully prosecute Burnley Drugs Gang

8 members of a Burnley Drugs gang have been jailed for a total of nearly 60 years following sentence at Preston Crown Court. Geoff Whelan and Hayley Bennett successfully concluded Operation Croatia, which involved the trial of three of the defendants earlier in the year.

The Organised Crime Group, headed by brothers Junaid and Zain Khan sold approximately £2 million worth of heroin and crack cocaine  over the course of the 15 month conspiracy. The offending was particularly aggravated as the gang used a number of children, some wearing school uniform to distribute the drugs on the street. Those children were deemed to be victims of Modern Slavery.

A proceeds of crime investigation is currently under way in relation to the Khan brothers and will be heard next year.
