Jaime Hamilton KC addresses The Bulgarian Anti-Corruption Commission

On Tuesday 15th June 2021, Jaime Hamilton KC provided a presentation to the Bulgarian Anti-Corruption Commission. He joined Zoe Martin, Unit Head of The Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division of the CPS, in discussing the combatting offences of corruption in public life. He particularly focussed on the non-prosecutorial tools available to law enforcement agencies, such as Unexplained Wealth Orders. The presentation was arranged by the UK Government.

His participation in this event followed his most recent trial where he prosecuted a police officer and another for the offence of conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office.

William Hamilton and Beth Caunce review this Supreme Court decision which concerns the correct approach to "uncontroverted" expert evidence, here in the context of a travel sickness claim, but with broader ramifications regarding the procedural fairness of refraining from cross-examining an expert or relying on one’s own expert and waiting instead to criticise that expert’s opinion in closing submissions.
