Winner of the Access Awards 2024: Qasim Amin

Chambers is delighted to announce the winner of the 9SJS Young Person Access Award 2024 is Qasim Amin.

Qasim is currently an A-Level student at Rochdale Sixth Form College. He became interested in a career as a barrister when he participated in the Bar Mock Trial with the Young Citizens programme, speaking before a jury in a mock criminal trial. Qasim strives to advocate for others and hopes to show that people from all walks of life can access the Bar. Qasim expresses his gratitude at receiving the Award and says that “being the recipient of the 9SJS Young Person Access Award has helped me take the next step in realising my dream of becoming a barrister, which isn’t something many people from my background dream of becoming”.

Qasim will be mentored by James Abernethy and will also benefit from an advocacy workshop, judicial shadowing and a mini pupillage in Chambers in the coming year. Chambers looks forward to welcome Qasim and keeping a close eye on his progress to University and beyond!

Applications for the next Access Award will open in Winter 2024. For more information, please visit www.9sjs.com/access-award/
