National Catholic Tribunal

Chambers are pleased to announce that Ed Morgan has been appointed to draft the rules of procedure for a new regulatory body. This appointment follows a decision by the Catholic Bishops of England & Wales to establish a National Tribunal Service to deal with regulatory cases and matters of clergy discipline. 

Ed Morgan's practice has for many years included the conduct of regulatory and canon law cases. He is a Fellow of the University of Cardiff Centre for Law and Religion, and a Visiting Professor of Canon Law at The Katholieke Universiteit, Leuven, Belgium, where he teaches at post-graduate and doctoral level.

William Hamilton and Beth Caunce review this Supreme Court decision which concerns the correct approach to "uncontroverted" expert evidence, here in the context of a travel sickness claim, but with broader ramifications regarding the procedural fairness of refraining from cross-examining an expert or relying on one’s own expert and waiting instead to criticise that expert’s opinion in closing submissions.
